Appreciation Day

This past weekend was the Employee & Family Appreciation event for our employer, which I was the lead in organizing. There were about 1,200 people. Between meetings over catering, activities, inflatable rentals, diagramming the park layout and every other possible thing over the past few months, I wasn't super excited about it anymore. Bryon was on my committee (Isn't he always? Love him.) and he, too was feeling the burnout that happens after project planning. We were in a hurry to get it over with.

But we got up on Saturday and prepared ourselves for all the fun that awaited us at the local event park. The kids couldn't stop talking about it. Excited beyond words. And you know what? It was SO fun.

We ALL had a blast.

There was euro bungee.

And a Tilt-O-Whirl.

Laser Tag with the best laser guns I've ever seen. Super cool. We didn't see Andy for hours.

There was a batting cage.

My Jedi used to play baseball and softball (when on a break from football and basketball), did you know? Bad boy jocks DO exist [HUBBA HUBBA]! He hasn't played in a good many years but he smacked the crap out of those balls. I'm inclined to ask him to play on an adult league just so I can watch. Yowza.

There were also giveaways.

And at the end of the day, the children collapsed and we did as well. The next day our sore muscles were pleasant reminders of the tremendous amounts of fun we had with our kids. It was nice to appreciate them and the things they wanted to do all day long. We ran between the go-karts and the bungee nonstop. The girls learned to flip backwards! Trevor was tall enough to drive his own kart and we drove the other 3. It was awesome! And then Tilt-O-Whirl another 5 times. Mabel jumped on the inflatables until her eyes rolled back into her head. The event park was open and unlimited to our group - and it was the best event we have ever planned. The weather was perfect and the food was a hit, too. I am so grateful for the time I had to love on my babies. And the Jedi in a batting helmet was the cherry on top.

Bo missed us while we were gone all day, but he forgave us in the end. Mama's boy and all.
